My name is Richard Mandongwe. I am also from Our Workshop and I'm so happy to be part and parcel of this NPO it gives me the opportunity to meet with young local artists who are so eager to learn more to explore the art world. I think by having the opportunity to enter into such a competition is very very essential. This helps us try and find a way to improve our life standards. I am referring to our shacks. If we can get this materials at no cost that will encourage us to come up with more ideas because we won't have the constraint of cash or where we gonna get money to buy more material. This will help us as you know the cape town weather if we can utilise this material to build ceilings for our shacks and even the walling. Most of our shacks are made of ink. If we can build another inner wall of rubber that will prevent the cold during the winter time and also in summer. Especially dust. so this can also be used to making shelving and that will utilise the minimum space we have. This will also help develop the talent in the community because this one we just doing it for the township community. By so doing hopefully it will create more employment and then we can take more youngsters out of the street that will help them look after their siblings or further their studies. I do feel like this is the way to go for a better future of South Africa especially for the people who lives in the townships especially shacks. This can also be incorporated into the RDP houses as well.
