Hi Kate,
Thank you for your message. I will come up with a revised idea incorporating peer-to-peer and community support. I was hoping, the first step would be to network and reach out to social welfare bodies like NGOs and medical centers in a particular target area (I was considering the rural parts of western India) that can accept the idea and (Once the entire idea is streamlined and finalized) offer help in funding by finding sponsors . I am aware of a few non-profit organisations that work for the betterment of maternal health and I could do my best in introducing the idea to them and collaborating with them, of course with the support of OpenIDEO community.

Hi Kate,
Thank you for your message. Yes, my friend has been assigned a doctor and the entire process I believe, is going well. Since this is her first time being pregnant and aside from being a healthy women, she is concerned about the possible complications that may arise during childbirth and the health of the baby. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are 6 million pregnancies each year in the United States alone, and small advances in identifying and preventing pregnancy related complications (like gestational diabetes, obesity, severe maternal morbidity and many more) can improve the quality of thousands of pregnant women. And I think this could be one of the many potential topics of discussion during the Ideas Phase.
