To make these mircocredentials particularly valuable, assessments will be key. It would be great to work with 1) designers and developers of high-quality assessments; and 2) employers who could certify that these assessments demonstrated mastery. We should aim to develop assessments that are some combination of: authentic, scalable, low-cost, interactive, valid/reliable, formative/summative, etc.
Thanks, Kate. I would say that an intensive program like this is NOT good for someone working full-time. However, I like the idea that there is a diversity of educational programs and that students can select the one that fits into their life best--as opposed to the old way of doing education, where the semester-long course was your only option. I know GA and similar organizations have part-time options as well.
