The members of SMSHC are CDARH,a clinic located in Kalerwe which is dedicated to providing SRH and dental services to low income earners and youth around Kalerwe,Katwe and Kisenyi.RHU,an organisation dedicated to provision and promotion of SRH to youth since 1957 in Uganda located in Katego and Tra fm,a radio station dedicated to promotion of SRH in Uganda.
Peter, thanks for your observations. The youth as champions will be engaged in face to face meetings. The champions will volunteer their time and in return be supported to build their skills in SRH messaging and basic facts on SRH by Social Media for Sexual Health Consortium and shall also be trained on the use of the E- referral mobile application together with social media to achieve our project goal. 46.9% of the youth in Uganda are mobile phone users (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4140203/)with internet access. We have done a project in Bwaise where VHTs work with RHU to ensure that youth in Bwaise access SRH services. We have a big experience and contact in working with the youth in these slums and intend to reach 40000 youths by the end of the project. Most of the SRHS information like adverts on television is designed in such a way that its not user friendly for the disabled people like the deaf. Therefore we intend to translate these audio-visual messages into sign language and share them on our social media platforms so that these people are not left out of SRH services provided to the youth in this project.
Hello Peter.the E-referral mobile application is to be used by youth in the slums to refer fellow youth for clinical SRH services to nearby SRH service provision points. However,it also increases awareness about SRH services using the videos about SRH that are uploaded on this application.
