David Ezra commented on Tree Tracker - Money App

Hi Maurizio Bricola
Local communities and local authorities have been heavily involved in the creation and iterations of this project. We understand that meeting the needs of those we serve is crucial to our success and it is because of this local engagement and support that the project is viable and has such potential to scale.

I'm glad you found one of our user story docs. If you are more specific to one or more of the issues in that document, I can point you to the documentation/pull requests that have helped solve it. We have more than 200 issues that have already been solved and closed, almost all of them are unique to these users stories.

Hi @Francisco, This project is not short of challenges and you have identified one. We are employing indigenous people, who often don't speak the native language and have never used phones before. Not to mention they often live far from reception, and often survive off the monetary system - yet we are figuring out how to employ them.

Creating a direct financial link to women users in male dominate societies is our biggest challenge. Digital literacy is a close second along with many of the other technical challenges that come with the project. With the tree tracker money app we will be able to overcome these challenges and scale this system.

If this interests you, you are welcome to join the project and help our amazing team solve these challenges.

Hi Sultan Hussein Thanks for your feedback. The idea of planting trees is nice, but the reality behind what is actually happening on the ground is often much different. There must be a shift in the global story - is not about planting trees (as they often die young) it is about growing them, and even then, each tree is different. Do you want a monocrop of an invasive species of eucalyptus or diverse forest of indigenous trees? We are building a system that can incentivize diversification down to the individual tree level.

Aside from the project's potential for environmental impact, our focus is a social one.

We are building this to employ people out of extreme poverty.

We are creating employment in the most remote and extreme environments on our planet. The story of Mary is very personal for me, success is when a mother Mary is struggling for food or a hospital bill, she can go track her trees and immediately be paid for her services. We are almost there.
