Thank you for your interest and feedback. I've updated the post with more info and explanation of the idea and process. I hope it helps, please let me know if you have any other questions. Best Regards A Pi
Thank you very much for the comment, questions and info. I've worked on developing the subsections more, since they might be useful to the team and will post them today.
Your input regarding the PPE idea specifically was very helpful.
I'll have more info posted today.
Materials: I do know that I would need to test and tinker with various possible adhesions and materials which I don't have at the moment. I know that we'd need either a flexible, waterproof adhesive to allow the glove opening to flex over the hand or only use a wide-mouthed long glove if use a heat seal or hot glue type of seal since both of those seals are inflexible. I've found possible adhesives that could be easily applied as a double-side adhesive, etc.,
Size: Your question regarding size was helpful because I believe that the bagginess of the PPE also causes a contamination hazard. HPCs are more likely to unknowingly brush up against something because they have excess material on their suits and shoes that the brain doesn't quite take into account. I've worn a white plastic coverall in the past and I can assure you that they are NOT comfortable and cause unexpected clumsiness with the excess material that extends beyond the body. I did not have to wear full coverage nor was it for hazardous contamination but even so, it was unpleasant! :-)
Cost: I have some estimated costs and will post those and additional ideas in the new post. I'll notify you once it's ready.
I found your question regarding what ideas I'm most passionate about - interesting because I thought it might help me to decide what areas to focus my time and energy. Any of the ideas that help win the war on Ebola are a priority to me based on:
My Mother was an ICU/CCU RN for many years so I'm passionate about protecting our HCPs both in US and West Africa HCPs - ie., PPE ideas.
I'm passionate about West Africans not having to watch any more family and friends die from Ebola and therefore, hope we can address containment with community outreach programs and education.
I'm passionate about children in general and hope that the ideas to help the children will ease their suffering.
Sarah, I welcome any of your suggestions, comments, etc.,. Thanks again, appreciate your comment very much, and will have additional submissions shortly. Thank you and have a great weekend!
Best Regards, A
PS . If you just meant the questions to inspire and rhetorical than my apologies for long response but again, thanks because helped focus some areas for me! :-)
