Dear Bremley Lyngdoh, thank you for your beautiful idea.
Having a parent in prison can be a very difficult time for children with long term negative impacts. They may experience a range of emotions such as fear, guilt, confusion or shame and research highlights the following issues as being of particular concern. Stigma and fear of stigma from being associated with having a close family member in prison can create anxiety and stress. Children often experience or fear bullying or exclusion because of their situation.
It would be amazing to teach the children and the single mum's, in order to build strength of character and resilience. That if they face any kind of stigma because their mothers past or as a single mum having been in prison, that they should not view themselves how others view them. That they should only believe about themselves what they know to be true. That they can start afresh and make a real social impact, succeed above and beyond, whether others believe they can or not. Thanks
