She is a member of the Society of Children's Writers and Illustrators. She is a contributing writer to the highly acclaimed book: "Cooking Gene: A Journey Through African American Culinary History in the Old South." She is a graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine and Oklahoma State University in nutrition and health communication.
