A very heartfelt presentation of a challenging conundrum, talking about and planning for death while living fully. Although death is inevitable there seems to be almost a genetically hardwired avoidance in truly considering its reality. In casual discussion if death comes up we often have opinions on how we would like to spend our last days, even if joking about it, so on some level it has been contemplated. But when it comes to actionable steps such as a serious discussion with family and friends about our individual wishes, then actually drafting a living will to clearly state those wishes, the motivation quickly dissipates and it's put off to a later date. But too often time runs out as a catastrophic event or terminal prognosis requires immediate action and perhaps what ensues isn't what one would have wished for. Eddie is a companion to all of us. Thanks for the formal introduction to him, maybe now that we know his name we can acknowledge his presence.
