Alexandra commented on Food Waste Forecast

Hi Michelle! I think a Food Waste Forecast is an awesome idea! I think that having the amount of food waste each county wastes displayed through a reliable news source is most definitely a way to get people involved! I agree with you that adults are slightly ignorant to the effects of food waste because they are not learning about it through schooling, and having a forecast that is easy to access would help open their eyes to the detrimental effects of this epidemic.

I think that by showing people that saving food that may be deemed as "expired" or "old" helps them economically, they will be more prone to save their food and use it with care. I think that one thing this forecast needs to cover is the importance that expired food does not mean inedible food! Many people are scared of falling ill due to old food, and I think by telling people food is still safe to eat even when expired will help decrease the amount of food waste produced by each county. Perhaps your early lightweight experiment can feature someone who is relevant to all people in that specific county! This way, people will be more likely to participate and hold your project to high regards.

I love this project and I am excited to see where it will go from here!
