Hi, Kate, Thanks for your interest in our social enterprise. This social enterprise is called as Hopen. HOPEN is a sharing-economy platform for young talented people to serve the old ones. For the healthy older seniors and their family, these seniors lack mental companionship the most. A long-term mental deprivation can cause senile conditions such as depression and dementia. At HOPEN family members (customers) pay for the 20 to 30-year-old talents to be “talent providers” and provide aroma therapy, performances, story-telling, etc. to satisfy the seniors’ (users) need for mental companionship and to alleviate the family members’ burden. These talents can contribute their time and skills, earn some cash and increase their confidence. So far customers place their requests and HOPEN finds the matching talents manually. In the future customers can place orders directly to the talent providers and HOPEN handles the cash flow. Talent providers can also save their earnings on the platform as deposits and place orders to other talent providers (C2C) with the processing-fee waived.
