Great concept. If you haven't already, I'd suggest looking into Robert Kiyosaki, author of "Rich Dad, Poor Dad." He has solid content with a proven track record, and has already developed a game to integrate experience the message. Perhaps you could build upon this foundation to turn the games into a VR simulation?
Do you have much experience with VR, 360 Video, or simulations?
Absolutely, I imagine a future where one of the primary reasons to attend university is becasue of the project centered environment. Projects could be built around testing/prototyping in order to assist the research efforts of the professor, recreating scenarios from industry, or through a Duolingo type model.
Duolingo fills company driven needs by crowdsourcing the answers from it's students. When they have enough content to verify a reliable answer, they sell it to the company for a profit.
Depending on the projects, they could contribute points toward multiple badges/ competencies, or have a badge of it's own.
