Hi, Eunice...increased utilization of family planning and reproductive health centers, improved understanding of sexual health issues, open lines of communication between adolescents and parents/family, understanding the myths that are all too prevalent among young people and a clear understanding of how to prevent unwanted pregnancy...advantages and disadvantages of available methods of family planning. Most of all, I hope we can give young people and their parents a voice and a safe place to ask questions and get real answers to important questions.
Thanks, Anne-Laure for your question and input. We received a small foundation grant to pilot the program in several rural regions of Peru. PCI Media has extensive experience in broadcast media, Entertainment-Education and working in partnership settings. This will be our first inter-generational outreach effort and we're prepared to adapt our methodologies where necessary in this pilot project. If it works, we'll replicate in other areas and share lessons-learned broadly. Keep us linked to you class and feel free to share the benefits of the research your teams are doing. There are some really exciting possibilities here!
Hi, Eunice...Thanks for your questions. We do extensive formative research to seek relevant partnerships and potential moderators/facilitators for the radio conversations. Once we've identified these participants, we do extensive training on our social and behavior change communications methodology. It is in these training sessions that we link program participants with experts (providers) in the field who bring their expertise to the table. A unique feature of Familiando is to encourage inter-generational dialogue so parents will be encouraged to participate as well. Our signature Entertainment-Education approach creates role models for listeners to consider. They offer new ways of communicating between and among parents and teens. It's an exciting new approach...and a learning experience for all of us!
