Hi Chioma "Learn and Connect" is the learning platform of the United Nations Refugee Agency and offers training opportunities for UNHCR staff and partners, as well as to members of other UN agencies. It includes access to online learning and other training resources. Training is available in the following areas: Programme, Finance/Supply, HR, Staff, Health and Welfare, Emergency and Security, Management, IT and software applications, the official languages of the UN. IT is powered by Cornerstone Inc. The platform is not available to refugees.
Courses may include visuals such as photographs, graphics or sometimes videos.
Sewing courses are not available through Learn and Connect. My inspiration for the sewing course idea came from http://Craftsy.com which, for a fee, offers video training in various crafts that can be accessed at any time, as often as and as long as needed. I am not aware that such courses are specifically accessible to refugees through any project, but this does not mean that similar courses are not available. Nor am I aware of on-line computer training in the refugee context, but it is possible that in some of the larger camps such as Dadaab and Zaatari, the concept has already been introduced, or that governments make computer training available to resettled refugees. I would have to make further enquiries.
