Thank you Ashley for taking time to read through our idea. Please note that at CARA, the piloting of this idea was done in a sense that we already have SRH programs running in Uganda in and out of settlement Camps. We are aware that there are specific tools that are used by Openideo to conduct a prototype. So to test our idea, we used the sports platform to mobilize 300 youths in Kayunga, Bbale Sub-county in Kayunga district in the period of March to September 2017. Games like soccer, netball, volleyball were organized for youth out of school. Following the excitement of the youth in the sports, tents for SRH service provision were also put up and out of 400 youths that attended the sports event, all of the 400 received information on SRH services, 270 of these (137 females and 133 males) received SRH services like family planning, HIV counselling and Testing, safe male circumcision, among others. One of the 20 year old female participant had this to say “I was attracted to this outreach by sports, I have been invited to several events of family planning outreaches but I didn’t see any importance of going there, I have received condoms and information while enjoying my favorite game soccer which I played a very long time ago”. As CARA, we learned that sports is a very strong mobilization strategy of young people as it has proved to be a strong crowd puller for young people and it has also gone ahead to produce results as youths invite new friends to receive services.
