Andrea commented on RE-CAP _ reusable caps

Hi Lauren.

Last night I uploaded my answers to the questions in time and provided additional material. However I wasn't able to update the public page above since apparently the editing feature was blocked.
Now I can see the edit feature again. I will make sure to update the post ASAP

Thank you
Andrea

Andrea commented on The Bottle to Bottle Cap

Hi Julian,

In general the main reasons why PET is not used for bottle caps are the following:

-Currently caps are pushed on the bottles' necks in the production line. PET isn't flexible enough to do that reliably and consistently without braking.

-Current caps are precisely pre-perforated to allow to be teared and easily opened when twisted. PET is too rigid and hard to do this.

- To create a good seal, a softer and more flexible material is needed. Again, PET is too rigid and hard for that.

I believe that if we want to use PET for a bottle cap, the cap itself has to be designed in a different way to suit the material properties.

I tried a different approach here:

Perhaps it could be of inspiration ;)
