How might we design an accessible election experience for everyone? - Challenge Rules

Challenges

In these Challenge Rules we use the same definitions as the OpenIDEO Terms of Use (the “Terms of Use”)You have viewed a brief of the Challenge on the Site (www.OpenIDEO.com) and subject to agreement to these Challenge Rules and registration as a User, you (the “Entrant”) will be able to submit Contributions to the Challenge.

By checking the “I agree” box you as an Entrant acknowledge and confirm that you have read, understand and agree to these Challenge Rules (and any amendments thereto), have no objection to them and agree to be bound by their obligations and conditions as set forth herein. As an Entrant you are entering into an agreement with ITIF as the Challenge Host. In the event of conflict the Challenge Rules shall take precedence over the Terms of Use that you have already agreed to.

If you do not agree to these conditions you will not be able to submit a posting or Contribution for the Challenge.

Stages and Timescale

Due to the nature of Challenges and that Contributions cannot be predicted or elicited at the outset of a Challenge, the Challenge Host acting fairly reserves the right to amend the description of the stages and timescale on short notice.

Awards

The winning contributor(s) will be fully recognized, as will other key contributor(s). ITIF agrees and acknowledges that it must complete this in connection with this Challenge, and in conformity with the Selection Process set forth in these Challenge Rules.

The winning concept(s) and key Contribution(s) will be featured on the Site,  the ITIF Accessible Voting Technology Initiative website, currently located at http://elections.itif.org and other sites of any supporter(s) of the Challenge. You have granted the right to reproduce, distribute, publish, perform, display and create derivative works of the winning concept(s) and key Contribution(s) in the Terms of Use, such as a publication recording and celebrating the Challenge.

Selection Process

A key principle in evaluating the Contributions (concepts) for a Challenge is that these are rated by the community of Entrants in the Evaluation stage.

A judging panel has been appointed by IDEO comprising personnel from ITIF and IDEO and their purpose is to define the challenge themes, select concepts for evaluation and review the final rated Contributions (by the community of Entrants) to select the winning Contributions.

The judging panel will give your Contribution such consideration as is warranted by its sole judgment. Its review of your Contribution shall not be construed as any recognition of the novelty or originality of your Contribution. NeitherITIF nor the judging panel is obligated to give reasons for rejecting your Contribution, or for your Contribution not featuring in the winning Contributions, or to reveal their activities that are related to the subject matter of your Contribution.

The decision of the judging panel is final and an Entrant has no right of appeal.

Personally Identifiable Sensitive Information

For this Challenge you may choose to submit a posting or Contribution that contains “sensitive” personally identifiable information which may include, but not be limited to, any information about yourself or another person that may relate to health or medical conditions; social and financial information; other information concerning race or ethnic origins; political, religious or philosophical opinions and beliefs, or other sensitive matters. In which case you must obtain consent from that person(s) to submit their personal information in image, video, audio or text form to the Site. You agree to hold IDEO and ITIF harmless from any claims resulting from your non compliance with this.

Intellectual Property

Due to the provisions of the Terms of Use, IDEO and ITIF advise against you posting a Contribution if you have made, or anticipate making, an application for a patent or other form of registered or unregistered intellectual property for the Contribution, or part thereof. IDEO and ITIF accept no liability if an Entrant breaches this advice.
