Social return from investing in child protection

There is little return from investments made in education, health or nutrition if young children live in a state of chronic stress because of violence within the home or community.

Safety from harm is one of the fundamentals that needs to be in place. Its absence means that investments in health, nutrition or education are undermined because of the long term impacts of chronic stress on the growing brain. This research speaks to the long term impacts that violence against children has had on their lives as adults.

Yes Meena I also work for the Caucus for Children's Rights who have extensive experience activating people to protect children and working with the Tanzanian Government to develop child protection systems. You may also be interested in my research www.doingtherightthing.co that explores how people behave pro-socially and protect children make meaning of their own behaviour.
