It starts with a healthy brain
To help give children the opportunity to reach their full potential, we must first provide a healthy foundation. For children, this starts in the womb with their mothers. Mothers who are anemic, iodine-deficient, or even in violent and unsafe environments, for example, give birth to children who are already behind in terms of physical and mental development. Focus first on healthy pregnancies. The Harlem Children's Zone in New York does this by providing coaches for first time expectant mothers and enrolling these mothers in a Baby College to not only help them have healthy pregnancies but also to give them the tools, resources, and support to be good parents. Finally, extensive research tells us that early schooling works. Let's get to it!

-Start with health and start with pregnancy
-Provide coaches and social support for expectant mothers
-Finally, provide each child with a stimulating environment. Early schooling works
