Educating parents about early childhood development

Parents need to be educated regarding the effects of a lack of early childhood development. More attention and prominence needs to be given to this so the message can be widespread and understood. A generational change needs to take affect. Children are born into families which have limited knowledge regarding early childhood development, so it is expected that when they themselves become parents they too place less importance on early childhood development. This cyclical/generational effect needs to cease.

It inspires me as our children are our future and they need the support and care not only from their parents but from the community.
Key learnings are around education at all levels of the growth cycle.
Questions raised are around what are being taught at schools so when kids become parents, they then should place importance on early childhood development.

True, Mat – and in our upcoming Ideas phase we'll be very keen to hear about innovative approaches to this, with low-income communities in the developing world in mind.
