It starts with clean water, but everything else needs to be clean too. Clean food, clean living conditions, clean people ... hygiene is super important. Success is much easier if things are clean.

True Eric. Do you know of any innovative initiatives which are promoting this message effectively in low income communities – or working together with them to help secure clean water? It's interesting to note innovative corporate strides to promote hygiene in India: What other creative ways can we find which have pushed this message?

I really like the visibility the billboard has, and the simple diagram and message is clear and to the point. Education is so important to having communities realize the impact good hygiene can have on their children and families at large. In the research my team conducted, we worked directly with an NGO that has built a great relationship with the community, so building the message upon the trust and respect with the NGO was important to gain trust for our cause. There are also community leaders who are often the liaison between the NGOs and their community, and having their buy-in was crucial in gaining trust as well.
