Mobile Storytelling Units
Storytelling is fun and entertaining, but also a powerful and enriching tool that can also serve many educational purposes. I propose the idea of putting "mobile storytelling units" on the road in low-income communities and encouraging community members (adults and children) to come together to tell and share stories. These could be structured around themes, such as school, travel, adventures, health and therefore could promote learning and entertainment together. The unit could also double as a library using resources and books from regional libraries (that are perhaps not as easily accessible to local residents) or donations from overseas.
These units would essentially serve as mobile community centres bringing together children in a safe and fun learning environment and providing a space for adults to congregate as well.
Who will benefit from this idea and where are they located?
Both parents and children in the crucial development years and beyond.
Is this an idea that you or your organization would like to take forward?
Yes. I am looking for partners that might be interested in taking this idea forward in their communities.
