Learning My Way: A Children's Development Center
The development center would be similar to a pre-kindergarten program for children 0-5. Providing an environment of them to stimulate their learning at a young age will help them to be better prepared for later years of schooling. The center would be colorful and inviting for children. The center would have games and activities for children to partake in. The program would be the duration of a school day however, children are also welcome to come in for a few hours or play a game and leave. My hope is to stimulate their upward learning curve with excitement and give them a sense of independence while doing so.
The center would be full of "Learning places" which would be filled with helpful material to help their schooling. It could be games to play indivdually or in group settings. Directions would be provided for each child, so they are able to eventually navigate the center by themselves. Giving them the opportunity to choose what they want to learn while controlling the topics they are surrounded with helps them to become indepent and feel confident that they are able to help themselves.
An organization that is also focused on early child development.
Who will benefit from this idea and where are they located?
Children 0-5 in low-income areas.
How could you test this idea in a quick and low-cost way right now?
Create a center in an area heavily populated with children 0-5. The center would be similar to grade school based on the time attended and help them to be better prepared for kindergarten. A low cost way to do it would to just create a setting whether it be indoors or outdoors and fill it with activities for the children to see how they adapt to the learning center.
What kind of help would you need to make your idea real?
Teachers that are patient and willing to work with children at such a young age and parents that are willing to send their child to a development center.
Is this an idea that you or your organization would like to take forward?
Yes. I am looking for partners that might be interested in taking this idea forward in their communities.
