Children in low-income countries don’t get good care because their parents don’t have enough scientific parenting skills. Why? Because most parents in these countries lack scientific parenting knowledge. As we all know, because of economical condition, it is unlikely for them to learn, communicate and get advice from world-class paediatrician or scholars. However, distance teaching class can solve the problem. The distance teaching class can be built on the third platform, such as Cousera. Because it is video class, there will no problem for those parents who come from illiterate households.
Professional paediatricians and early childhood experts in poor communities are so few. By using remote teaching class, experts can teach them how to develop children brains in their early ages, how to maintain nutritional balance, how to prevent childhood illnesses scientifically et al.

Who will benefit from this idea and where are they located?

Younger children and parents in poor countries will get benefits from this idea. Kindergarten teachers, doctors in those countries also can get benefits by learning and update their children care knowledge and skills through the remote class.

How could you test this idea in a quick and low-cost way right now?

Find an existing platform, it maybe Coursera or other university platform.
 Contact professional paediatricians and experts.

What kind of help would you need to make your idea real?

It requires the cooperation from the third platform. And it needs program developers to work on it if develop a new platform. Not all families in low-income countries have computer, internet. Therefore, it also needs community to gather people who want to study, and provides multimedia. They can study together and communicate experience with each other.

Is this an idea that you or your organization would like to take forward?

  • Yes. I am looking for partners that might be interested in taking this idea forward in their communities.
