Turns out that our brains do remain plastic as we get older, but only if we challenge them with learning something new versus just doing repetitive brain games. If we want to really add value in mentoring, it would be good to keep this in mind.

Gretchen this is provocative in its simplicity. I also think there is something to be said to having an open mind as you age. I am looking forward to the finding ways to entice and get many young adults to challenge this mindset as Mentors.

Al, you are absolutely right - one must be receptive and open to make this work. I am happy to see one myth about learning in old age busted, now we just need to get the word out :-)
