Let's experience what it's like to mentor someone outside our peer group.

There's no better way to understand what mentorship is than to try it out ourselves. During Research, let's each choose one person outside of our peer group or generation that we can offer training or coaching to through mentorship. Pick one small thing you know how to do, share it with someone older or younger than you and then report back on your experience with us. Specifically, think about:

  • Who did you choose to mentor? How do you know them?
  • What need, goal or priority did you identify in the person you chose that you were able to help with?
  • How did you explain to them that you'd like to share what you know with them? What was the conversation like?
  • What happened during your interaction? Were there any moments that were awkward, fun or that surprised you?
  • Will you choose to coach, train or mentor that person again in the future, or did your interaction end there? Why?
  • What could have made your experience better or more positive for both of you?
