Make businesses open and available to everyone.
While randomly posting another inspiration about Mozilla (Open Badges) I read about something unique they offer for the community. Each week they host a 30/60 minute open-to-anyone community call where they problem solve, brainstorm new ideas, discuss open projects, review the company mission and everyone is invited.
Mozilla is a non-profit organization that prides themselves on openness, but I don't see a reason why private business couldn't adopt this idea. The idea that anyone can join in a business conversation as a recent graduate or potential employee, or possibly have these calls incorporated into a unit in a school or classroom offers a unique insight for young job-seekers looking to understand company culture or just learn more about the employer.
I know I would have loved something like this right out of school. It's an expansion of an internship but with more people invited. There is such a separation of classroom/work that being able to eavesdrop or sit in on your favorite company's business meetings makes the idea of working for a company less mysterious and more familiar.
