BMW Guggenheim Berlin Maker Day

When the BMW Guggenheim Lab launched in Berlin, graduate students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, along with other local makers, ran a skill-building community Make-In.

In the text and videos attached, we see the BMW Guggenheim Lab hosting a Make-In, in which graduate students and other specialists taught and assisted anyone who wanted to learn" maker skills," using a variety of tools from sewing machines and makeshift looms to 3D printers. This is a very short term community of practice, but still one that models the magic that can happen when people who have practical skills mentor and instruct those who would otherwise not have access to such learning opportunities at a price they can afford. Not only are skills conveyed, but the practice builds community at the same time, as youth (but also others) work side by side with people willing to share their valuable, and often marketable skills.

Hi fjr, interesting post! Any chance you could find an image to go along with it? Images help grab attention and tell a story with higher impact. You should be able to use the 'Update entry' button on the right of your post and follow the instructions to add images from there. We know occasionally people have issues uploading images so let us know by hitting the Support tab on the left hand side of most pages of our site if you face any problems. Looking forward to seeing more of your inspiring ideas on OpenIDEO.

Thanks, OpenIDEO. I am just not as up-to-date as many of you here are as to what one can legally lift from a website and paste here. I know a link is always okay.
