Trust in your Future

As a current participant in the Marcus Graham Project, I have been given the resources to fully delve into the world of advertising and pursue my in-born passion to connect with people from a multicultural background. In a field where diversity is stifled and often neglected, I now have the confidence to take a shot and learn the skills to stand out among my peers.

I have many people to thank for arriving at my current place and position. I think that this past week, I realized how important it is to give back, appreciate, and thank those who have marked and treaded the path to my “achievements”. This support from others is the crystallized form of faith and trust –in a way; I was just a lucky “bet”.

The first scholarship that I received was from the Alexander Hamilton Friends Association in high school. It was this organization that extended the first form trust which inspired the belief in myself. Since then, I have a received a series of scholarships that has allowed me to fund my college tuition in full. However despite graduating from the University of Washington without an array of loans, I am still in debt. To each person who has touched my life in some form or fashion, it is now my duty to spread that gift of faith to others.

Now, how does this relate the improvement of employment opportunities for young people around the world? Well, It means everything. It is organizations like these that build opportunity not just through monetary means but also through community and training. Investment is a form of trust—and this trust leads to self-belief and confidence, and eventually opportunity.
