The Learn and Earn program at Bunker Hill Community College in Boston is a great example of selective programs to help youth learn and acclimatize to work life. How could the learning experiences in these selective programs be scaled to open formats?

Great share – and I was interested in checking out more details here: http://www.bhcc.mass.edu/learnandearn/ (Perhaps you might add that link directly to your post in case folks want to easily check out more?) Seems that one of the successful aspects of this program is that it links a number of employers through a single initiative? Great inspiration for all kinds of angles for our upcoming Ideas phase!

Done! Yes, I think this model is scalable. Learn and earn is brilliant; now if I can only learn to stop posting without linking!

Interesting to note that uniting a number of employers via a single initiative can take many forms: https://openideo.com/challenge/youth-employment-pathways/research/effective-city-and-community-organization-partnership-sfor-youth-employment We're excited at what other issues unifying mechanisms could help solve in the scope of this challenge. It's certainly an exciting opportunity area and it's fab to be getting very different examples being shared during our Research phase.
