Think inside the box or in this case the buggy. Design a business that fits inside the confines of mobile buggy. This is a social enterprise geared towards establishing a pay it forward model for start ups that only requires $2500 to $5000 approximate SEED Investment. The concept involves assisting young entrepreneurs to develop their own human centered approach to creating a business that can be run from a buggy (e. Organic fruit stand, Mini Magazine Shop, etc). Triple bottom line is essential to encouraging ideas that move beyond profit, have minimal effect on environment and have a contribution towards common good. Young people selected to get buggy must pay it forward by providing grant to purchase next buggy for next person.
The mobile buggies would be run as a social business and targeted within larger metro areas as well as rural communities depending on the need. The differentiator would be the quality, design and concept of the mobile business that can be co-created with mentors . Applications would be vetted for candidates that have unique concepts as well as having video interviews / Entrepreneurship psychometric tests be part of the process to assess attitude and aptitude. In addition social media campaigns would be tailored to context in order to highlight pay it forward aspect, environmentally friendly aspect as well as sustainability of the businesses.
Connecting with SEED funders in case certain population of applicants cannot find initial financing is essential. One immediate solution is to tap into existing micro finance networks globally including but not limited KiVa and other grass roots micro finance operations. The initial round of SEED funding per buggy will not exceed 2500 to 5000 USD then the pay it forward model would sustain the expansion of the concept.
Who does this idea benefit, who are the main players and what's in it for them?
Unemployed and Underemployed youth populations globally whether in rural , suburban or urban contexts. In more developed countries approach will differ than in undeveloped countries however envisioning partnership and co creation approach where potentially mentor ship and reverse mentor ship would assist in spreading the innovations in buggy ideas and support the funding. This would be in SME/Start up space...
How is your idea specifically increasing access to employment opportunities and pathways for young people?
It directly affects employment by providing a segment of youth population globally that have an Entrpreneurshipal inclination to start their own social business. This would be just a beginning not an end to their journey in exploring ways to be ethically self sufficient. It is not about giving a fish or even teaching someone how to fish...it is tapping the youths capacity to aspire and tapping the potential they have themselves to teach their own selves how to fish....
Once the user goes through this process they will inherently increase their capacity to sustain themselves, capacity to aspire and to follow their own passions...all without compromising on social or environmental values...
What early, lightweight experiment can you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?
Recruit young entrepreneurs and set up low cost mobile buggies in educational institutions in student lounges as well as carnivals or fairs as a way to experiment with viability of several social business concepts....

Pay it forward is powerful concept that does not get due credit or utilization globally. This being a business driven approach to achieve triple bottom by thinking inside the box is slightly disruptive which further inspires me...Key learnings are yet to be determined as I am starting this journey...How would the next person in line be supported by the previous buggy owner if they are potenial competition? Can I tap into millenial generation spirit of wanting to have an impact in life? How far can a concept like this go in emerged markets as well as developing countries?
How hands on or hands off should one be with potential entrepreneurs?
Should their be a collective theme/s for the buggy business globally? Or should each buggy be unique design and concept?
