What are the next steps for implementing this idea?

Coordinate with NGOs.

Briefly describe a user scenario which illustrates the specific need that your idea is trying to solve.

NGOs, corporations, and governments that setup youth (L)earning initiatives most often operate in an academic context. In order for these initiatives to gain the next level of traction, they must enter the consumer space. Our product empowers them to do so.

Complete a User Experience Map. This will help you visualize how a potential end user will interact with your idea. Once you have completed it, upload it using the Upload File button at the end of this form. PDF files preferred.

  • Still working on it

Who does this idea benefit, who are the main players and what's in it for them?

This product benefits youth, and those trying to empower them. Youth and their champions gain career learning assets backed by rigorous research in coordination failures and matching frictions. To view the current work that most influences our approach please see the works of Davis et al., and Pissarides: http://www.nber.org/papers/w16265 | http://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/economic-sciences/laureates/2010/pissarides-lecture.html

How is your idea specifically increasing access to employment opportunities and pathways for young people?

We can't understand the (L)earning of those who are 16-24, without first understanding the (L)earning development of those who are 6-15. While our flagship product is a "kinderpreneur launchbox," it is the first step to understanding how to troubleshoot matching frictions that our 16-24 year old clients experience.

What early, lightweight experiment can you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?

Our first experiment with a local Boy Scouts of America troop has been completed.

What skills, input or guidance are you keen to receive from the OpenIDEO community to help you build out or refine your idea further?

More launchbox shell designs, and any ideas are welcome!

The idea emerged from:

  • A group brainstorm

How do you envision your idea being implemented?

  • Keen to prototype it, find partners and pursue implementation

Wow! Dave,
Saw you updating the idea this morning. The new flow looks fantastic and easy to understand. Have you thought about the prototype yet?
I am very much interested to that aspect. How about using existing surface screens ? Can we create a mock-up using your great presentation skills?
Excited to see this working at educational institutions, at large!

Hey Priyanka! All I need to do is coordinate with our first NGO partners, plug their material into a cool package, and send it off to the manufacturer!

Exciting! Looking forward to hearing how that goes and what you learn along the way.

Oh – and loving how you've hacked our submission form to include plenty of visualised goodness through out your post. Nice one.

Hey Dave, sorry it's been ages since I last commented!! Like Meena, I'm blown away by the visually arresting pitch. I also appreciate how you snuck in the other idea (book of lifelong learning) hehe #crossmarketing, and had no idea that you now have a company name (Nexta) and website for this initiative!! Fantastic progress. :)

Moving forward, I'm sure I'm out of the loop by now so would you mind catching me up on what still needs tweaking / doing? I'm really keen to launch a prototype where I am (Bangkok) or where I'm from (Manila) and so am seriously considering using the same entrep-focused designs but with low-income formats (notebooks, erasers) just in case the target market there doesn't spend on lunch boxes!

Also, if it's more convenient to chat / develop these ideas off the platform - just so that when we post here it's closer to the finished concept - let me know where I can reach you. :) Ciao

Thanks, Angela!
Glad to have you on the team! Basically we're all setup, and now at the stage when we're ready to approach a few NGOs to plug their desired materials into a launchbox format. Would love to see it in Asia; let's talk soon! Please reach out to me on LinkedIn http://www.linkedin.com/in/davezinsman
thanks!

The cooler stuff is so cool! I am admiring it so much.

Heard that majority of the people (75%) in the world who use English language for speaking, reading and writing understand pictorial representation only and the other 20% understand a combination of both pictures and words and the rest 5% only understand words !
- Not a true source but a logic to be considered.
