Women and Safe Access to Sanitation in India

Our collected findings in the research phase of the OpenIDEO 2014 brief: Women and safety in low income urban areas. We were particularly interested in the challenges faced by women in low income Indian districts after discovering the groundbreaking research conducted by Women in Cities International and Jagori about the gendered challenges faced by women trying to access water and safe sanitation in two Indian communities.

This video is part of our school assessment, where we were asked as a group to conduct research as part of the OpenIDEO brief and to present our findings on a specific topic in video format. My group was most interested in the challenges faced by women in low income urban areas in India, and we were inspired by the Women in Cities International and Jagori documentation and safety audit conducted in India.
