The Stupidest Question Ever!
I am from Turkey and it is too common that women are subjected to violence by their husbands, fathers, mothers ,brothers, boyfriends. Sometimes it is about jealousy, sometime it is about doing something against religion or traditions, sometimes alcohol or just a simple argument for a stupid reason. Today I have conversation with a friend of mine and it seems I have to much thing to say about it since I have seen more then one act of violence against women even in my family, or among relatives. Here are some topics from our conversation which I think it is worth to think about them and it is good to hear what you are thinking about them as well.
Here are some topics from our conversation which I think it is worth to think about and it is good to hear what you are thinking about them as well.
1) when somebody in Turkey involves such an violence act and tells the story to other people for somereason - gossip, complaint etc., surprisingly most of people asks " oh what did she do?" or "what did you to to make him that crazy?" Can you think about any reasonable excuse to use violence ? Because I can't think about any excuse to beat up your wife, your daughter, I mean especially someone you suppose to love.
2) The other thing related to the previous one is that I thinks it is nothing about the other person. If somebody use violence to other people it is all about him/her. From this perspective maybe focsing on the people who uses violence could work better.
3) An other highlight from the conversation is that if resorting to violence is about a personality or characteristics, than there should be comman trait between this poeple. in that case talking with an expert such as a psychologist or smth would give us a real perspective about this challenge.
4) In sense of this, if it is about person, the main question how would you change a person's behaviour?
