Make Cities Alive Again

Communities have large amounts of empty buildings with no businesses. I believe there is a simple solution to making cities more alive, and safe by utilizing these empty spaces.

In my observations in my own community I see that run down and empty buildings can be a source of danger, and introduce crime.  My idea is related to helping and empowering women and others to start micro businesses in these empty buildings as well as inspiring landlords to rent in a new way.

I believe that this can impact the local economy, as well as inspire future business owners to try out a business for a short period.  This can help landlords get businesses into buildings that have remained empty for months or even years.

Which in turn will revitalize communities and empower people to make a difference in their own dreams.

This is a great point, Jesse. I feel particularly unsafe in foreign cities if I'm in an urban area where there are no active enterprises (from San Francisco to Mexico City and beyond) We're excited to see what ideas folks here come up with for economic development to support safety in our upcoming Ideas phase. Hope you'll be joining us!
