INSTEAD OF A CAUSE FOR CELEBRATION, ARE FESTIVALS IN FACT AN OCCASSION OF SIGNIFICANT THREAT TO FEMALE SAFETY?

In India, festivals are hugely significant in both the religous and cultural calendar and a cuase for celebration, across classes. Generally, in the environment, parent's let their guard down, and it is an occassion of much freer interaction between the sexes. However, due to the sense of celebration, frivolity, and density of people, does it actually have a negative imapct on female safety?

Festivals are high density and an opportunity to turn on the power of people and community watching out for each other.

People usually celebrate it with family and friends. But, there are cases where men take advantage and involve in a controversial conversation or deliberate act. People should learn how to treat an unknown person during the festive times. It is good to wish them, but should not exceed their limits in the behavioral part.

Thank you Sue Mulhall for building on this story

Maybe the positive mood of these celebrations could be used as a platform for awareness and sense of community watch out?

That transformation is in existence now. In cities, people live in communities, a group of apartments. They celebrate it together, but in the post that i made, people are passing through a street, and such acts have happened.
