Safe Woman System

The Women transiting risk areas will receive a control capable of running very simple and very effective security system. We first will Identify areas with greatest danger, we will choose the lamppost closest to these areas and we will install this system on the lampposts. The system has a siren capable of producing a loud warning signal, a light and a simple cellphone. When pressing "Warning" colorful street light is lit and an SMS message is sent to a central monitoring station, which can be the police themselves or the community. When tightening the sign "Emergency" The siren goes off, the lights flash, an SMS message is sent to the police, to the monitoring station and to the people live next to the lamppost.

Explain your idea in one sentence.

Security system for the woman who allows women in distress alert neighbors and police.

What is the need you are trying to solve?

We are solving the problem of women's safety.

Who will benefit from this idea and how would you monitor its success?

Women who are exposed to situations of insecurity in regions of low development would be benefited. We could choose a test group of 10 women and 3 risk places to test whether the solution works and monitors the results.

Who would be best equipped to implement this idea in the real world? You? Your organisation? Another organisation or entity?

Here in my city, we have a Hackerspace. I think the people from that place can make and test with me this solution.

Where should this idea be implemented?

In my city, Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. We have this problem here and we have a good network of partners and women's groups to help with testing.

How might you prototype this idea and test some of the assumptions behind it?

I can create a test application with just the basic functions, select a group of women to use for 20 days, harvesting the results with everyone involved and develop a more complete application.
