"Days without an incident..."

Modify the workplace safety slogan "(number of) days without a workplace accident" and place it in a prominent village location so that it motivates communities to strive for zero incidents of domestic abuse.

This idea requires a sign be designed for and erected in a specific community. The sign also needs a person to "staff" it by keeping and updating stats.

Explain your idea in one sentence.

Place a sign village centers which says "Number of days without incidents of domestic violence = ___."

What is the need you are trying to solve?

Public awareness of domestic violence, motivation via changing statistics...

Who will benefit from this idea and how would you monitor its success?

Each community in which there is a sign...

Who would be best equipped to implement this idea in the real world? You? Your organisation? Another organisation or entity?

This is likely a job for an NGO.

Where should this idea be implemented?

Areas in which the are many reported and or suspected cases of domestic abuse.

How might you prototype this idea and test some of the assumptions behind it?

The idea could be prototyped in any community as a painted piece of long as there was a trustworthy and dedicated sign updater.

Hi Michael,

This reminds me of the ManUp! solution to gun violence in Brooklyn - in which a sign in the neighborhood displayed the number of consecutive days without shootings. See more from their model in the 2013 NYT article here:

Hi Ivy,

I checked out your link .

Though I have not seen it before, it is exactly the type of idea I am proposing. The idea in the link you sent goes a step further. The Brooklyn program refuses to let a great stat become an excuse to rest on laurels.
