How can we use natural phenomenons efficiently?

We have learnt how to make things by using electric power, new technologies, materials etc - air conditioning as a first example, but there are methods of achieving the same goals more efficiently, without using any resources.

We lose a lot of energy by achieving our goals using electric power. In many cultures, in our history, in traditional production methods, in nature there are lots of solutions that we could take or remodel to serve us everyday. Underground cellars, natural ventilation. We are becoming lazy as we can use power to help us with everything. We forget about the basic rules of efficiency.

My question is if we can gather those simple and complicated methods all together or if we can have some teams working on adapting these solutions to the environments we live in and how can we teach societies about it.
