Lack of light in the work place can cause seasonal affective disorder.  Its a mood disorder in which people who have normal mental health throughout most of the year but experience depressive symptoms in the winter, spring, summer or autumn year after year. Serious mood change when the seasons change, too much sleep and may also feel depressed are common symptoms. Benefits to a light airy environment makes you want to work and improves morale of staff.
