Take the stairs to stay fit and healthy.

- How to encourage people to take stairs instead of elevator?

- How to create "climbing the stairs" experience more enjoyable?

- How to engage people to do it everyday?

What are the benefits of your concept for the individual and the employer?

Transforming the stairs will not only make the employee healthier, but also create an energetic and dynamic atmosphere within the workplace. The changing display can brighten up the mood, educate, and encourage employee to work out.

What might the impact of your concept be and how might it be measured?

To make employee realize that living a healthy lifestyle is not difficult to execute. They do not have to spend two hours in the gym or buy a lot of gears in order to exercise. It can start as easily as choosing to take the stairs instead of elevators. The activity could be done anywhere and in any buildings. If the elevator get less crowed, that is a good sign!

How might your concept be designed to scale and spread to reach as many people as possible?

Campaigh, competiion, word of mouth.

How might you design a small experiment around your concept that would mobilise action?

Launching a campaign together with a one-month pilot program. Each department in the company can designate representators to participate in the pilot program. The representators will choose to take the stairs as much as they could and advertise others to visit stairs’ display. At the end of the month, designate the second pilot group and so on. At the annual party, the company can hold a vertical marathon competition, such as reaching the roof deck in 61st floor!

This concept will definitely build a more comforting and colourful atmosphere. The idea of having displays on the stairs will cover the boring plain colours and allow designs to be acknowledged by colleagues.

I like it! I think I'd feel more encouraged to take the stairs especially if it was more spacious and interesting than the plain and cramped ones we usually see in buildings. I think that it'd have an edge over using an elevator because of how it can provide a more unique and interesting experience than having to use an elevator and wait idly for 10 minutes every morning.

Since elevators are usually cramped and silently awkward, I like how this idea can focus on encouraging social interaction and lightening the mood to get people to try this option. I think it should provide a very light and energetic feeling; maybe adding large glass windows with a beautiful view can help? :)

Love this idea!

Many local governments / mayors etc could allow companies, arts orgs to "take over" the stairs of public spaces too (e.g. train stations, overpasses etc).

Rather than selling advertising, could companies transform stairs into exciting spaces that people want to use, encouraging the population to get exercise and delivering commercial impact for the companies involved??

Hi, Lily! I find this concept very inspiring. It is fresh but at the same time intuitive for me. Good idea I think.
