UK shows its entrepreneurial spirit

The data reveals interesting and unexpected trends in the landscape of UK business start-ups during 2011, including a rise in post-retirement entrepreneurs and increasing levels of regional enterprise.

Start-up businesses enjoyed a resurgence in 2011, according to the annual Simply Business Start-up Index, which shows the first rise in annual growth since the start of the recession in 2008.

  • Three per cent increase in UK start-ups in 2011
  • 19 per cent rise in businesses started by retirement age entrepreneurs

It looks the huge jobloss over the last 5 years is turning into startups. Digital tools can connect these 1-3 person startups again to be an organic whole for a region.

So basically the same work in a region gets done with more income for individuals and less for expensive/complex/slow overhead.
