So, regardless of your role in the web entrepreneurship ecosystem, it's to your advantage to have some foundational understanding of this.

Luckily, it's easier than ever to get started. Here's some free resources to begin that stress learning by doing (including courses/content/credit stemming from places like Stanford, MIT, UC Berkeley, etc.):

  • http://www.udacity.com/ : Building a Search Engine with Google's co-founder making guest appearances, Programming a Robotic Car, Web Applications, Cryptography, etc.
  • http://www.codecademy.com : Easy way to get started with Javascript for someone who's never coded before.
  • http://www.coursera.org : Content from multiple universities, including a Software as a Service intro teaching Agile Development using Ruby on Rails.
  • http://mitx.mit.edu/ : 1st free MIT Course is on Circuits & Electronics.

Awesome, Vincent. I think it relates well to a couple of other inspirations. See my comment on: http://www.openideo.com/open/web-start-up/inspiration/bootlaw-free-legal-advice-for-startups/

Awesome inspiration Vincent! I agree with this. It's important to learn how to code yourself when you are an early stage lean start up.

Great contribution, Vincent. Thanks for sharing. It would be great if we can have European initiatives like this as well.
