Fostering Entrepreneurship through education and mentorship

In Taiwan, the YEF program by Epoch Foundation is a multi-disciplinary, multinational educational program on entrepreneurship and innovation. Over the previous 10 years, YEF has cultivated over 1,000 collegiate students nationwide and 20 start-ups.

Young Entrepreneurs of the Future program was first carried out in 2003. Epoch Foundation (www.epoch.org.tw) has been a long-time partner to Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management. In response of the flat world, Epoch has developed a 6 to 9 month apprenticeship competition for collegiate students. The platform is based on dynamic of social network, innovation, and creativity. This extracurricular program has been accredited by some major universities in Taiwan.

With Epoch's network, YEF's 15 finalists are offered an opportunity to well-known cradles of inventors, technology and start-ups, e.g. Silicon Valley, etc. YEFers have got a chance to see innovators such as Sir. Tim Berners-Lee, David Clark; companies like Google, iRobot, E-ink, IDEO; incubators like Plug & Play Center, MaRS; NGOs like Design that Matter, Kiva, OLPC; and labs of MIT, UC Berkeley, Stanford, University of Toronto.

YEF alumni is spread in every profession in various organizations, such as P&G, Citibank, Google, ASUS, Foxxconn, MIT, Stanford, IMD. 20 companies and job opportunities have been created. Some are web entrepreneurs, app designers, Facebook authorized partner, etc.
