Aspiring entrepreneurs can apply for a spot in their nearest innovationSpace.
The combination of café and open desk allows the entrepreneurs to work in the open desk area, a nd at the same time they can earn money to pay life's bills by helping out in the  innovationBar

Especially in the beginning when the revenue of the start-up is unclear, one can book more time in the café and slowly phase over to  maximize  the time on the start-up.

The innovationBar should be a public hang out for all the people in the  neighbourhood , and a good destination for a lunch break. That way it's also an ideal platform to publish the work of the start-ups coming out of the innovationDesks.

What kinds of resources will be needed to get this concept off the ground and scale it?

This is an expensive theme, but one idea is to integrate the innovationSpaces into the Europa Houses that the EU owns in every EU capital. They are all prime real-estate in good locations in Europe's capitals and could benefit from the additional publicity and activity of the innovationSpaces.

This is definitely the trend going forward. Some of the industry leaders like Steel Case and Herman Miller are already take the first steps in this industry revolution.

It seems that people are just sick and tired of office furniture that are ergonomically friendly but are boring to look at. It's true, having an intriguing work place does spur the brain juices especially if the company is in R&D and the design space.
