DCTC platform develops deeper relationships with people interested in donating to a startup business, a la Kickstarter. Startups solicit funds much the way artists solicit funds on Kickstarter. The platform allows donors to be more closely involved with a startup, so they feel as though they have an emotional connection with the startup. This can be done with regular communications, updates, live chats, etc. Startups can leverage this base of enthusiastic supporters to help evangelize their company, get feedback from the donors, recruit them to test the product, leverage them in case studies, use their feedback/statistics as evidence of market traction with potential investors, turn them into paying customers, and more.

How will your concept support web entrepreneurship?

DCTC helps startups raise money, create word-of-mouth marketing, recruit early adopters, and provide valuable customer proof points to obtain follow on investment from angel investors and VCs.

What kinds of resources will be needed to get this concept off the ground and scale it?

Partnerships could include groups like Kickstarter, or other payment system.

I think that you are on to something. I was actually just talking to a business-friend yesterday who is starting a Kickstarter-like company and I was thinking that it is such a waste to have all these interested people giving little bits of money while the entrepreneur sits totally disconnected somewhere. Some like the Pebble watch have successfully converted donations into customers but many projects do not lend themselves to direct to customer links.
I hope you continue to flesh this idea out!
