How does your idea apply new technologies to make agriculture and water systems more resilient in the face of climate threats?
This idea allows to reuse water containing human, industrial or agricultural waste, prevents pollution of waterways by such waste, and promotes water harvesting by preventing harvested water from becoming stale. It also has the added benefit of helping reduce the use of chlorine for water sterilization needs, as plasma-treated water gains disinfectant properties and retains these properties for over 24 hours. It fights plant diseases and promotes plant growth without need for harmful chemicals,

What early, lightweight experiment might you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?
We will combine our plasma generator with a standard drip irrigation system and build a small-scale system, involving a water-harvesting system and possibly a bio-toilet system with full water reuse in our garden/greenhouse.

How do you plan to grow or scale this idea?
We intend to build both small-scale systems for hobby growers and large-scale systems for agricultural, industrial and municipal clients. We will also expand this technology into healthcare applications.
What skills, input or guidance from the OpenIDEO community would be most helpful in building out or refining your idea?
We need to determine what testing/certification will be needed in order to sell our products. We also need assistance in promoting our idea to stakeholders, such as regulators, public sanitation authorities, agricultural and industrial facilities and engaging them as partners in adoption of plasma-in-water technology. We are hoping to partner with manufacturers of agricultural, water treatment systems and/or healthcare products.

Our realization that despite well-researched and scientifically documented benefits of plasma-in-water technology, its wide adoption has been hindered by lack of efficient plasma-generation solution. Having developed the solution, we are now ready to apply plasma-in-water technology to reduce water waste and pollution.
Tell us about your work experience:
Our engineers have over 25 years of professional experience in electrical engineering. Using this expertise, we have created our patented solution for this low-cost, lightweight, possibly solar-powered plasma-in-water generator.
