WaterCredit puts microfinance tools to work in the water, sanitation and hygiene sector (what we call WASH). WaterCredit empowers the world’s poor with access to small loans for household water connections and toilets. WaterCredit is breaking the cycle of poverty and creating a cycle of opportunity – an opportunity to enhance one’s health, education and economic position.

This is an existing innovation to learn from and adapt particualry with respect to a viable business model and potential opportunities for integrating BOP as producers and maintenance (for livelihood options).

If you have been operating in India, what has been your focus?

Social enterprise and human centred design in India - Tamil Nadu especially IIT Madras but also recently conducted an study of livelihood oriented social enterprise in Southern India and connected with most of the networks in the country. I am also a social accounting and audit trained with SAN India (impact assessment).

What states or districts will you target/are you targeting within India?

Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka
