Talking with Texts

Using cellphones to empower deaf girls in Uganda.

I've been trying to figure out a way to join the inspiration phase based on my own disability - severe hearing loss. It's so frustrating to try to learn a new system (or even understand the old one) when you're feeling isolated from the greater group. But I've been so blessed it's ridiculous to pretend my voting experience is difficult.

However, life for these deaf twins (I'm a twin too!) hasn't been so great. I thought this article is useful for this challenge because although it has nothing to do with voting, it demonstrates the power and importance of access to information and a community - and a hearing buddy.

Thanks for your comments everyone! I agree - this can't be taken directly to the concept stage without some adaptations. My goal was to get brains turning about using technology to empower the disabled so thanks for the feedback.
