How can we reinvent the voting experience for people with disabilities?
I was my pleasure to interview and know how disabled people felt about voting. I realized how hard it would be for them to go and vote to participate in the elections. I interviewed two people that I knew from work who were disabled. After talking to them for a while, I found that their main concern was the accessibility problem. The interviewee said that it was hard for her to go and vote, because the polling booth was set in a church where there was no ramp or elevator. She said she felt quite embarrassing since the polling booth was inaccessible to her. She said she would prefer a special polling booth just for disabled people where people like her can go and vote without any difficulties.
The other person I interviewed would like to vote through his email account. He said he do not want to step outside his house and find disabled parking spot, instead voting through his Gmail or Yahoo account would be quite helpful.
